Samsung Galaxy S Android 2.3 Gingerbread update Now Available in India

Yes, the waiting is over! Samsung started rolling out latest firmware Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) for Galaxy S I9000 users in India. The update is distributed through Kies (Version 2.0.0.11044.11). Some users reported they have trouble in updating Kies from previous version and the update process goes indefinitely. In such case, Download Kies directly from Samsung download center. The update process is quick and easy with Kies.

Step by Step Installation Guide

1) Install the latest version of Kies

2) Kies will prompt you to install the latest version of firmware PDA:JV6 / PHONE:JV4 / CSC:JV6 (INU). Click the upgrade.

3. Do necessary backups for your private data. Kies will guide you to do that.

4) Your PC should be connected to internet and if having firewall, enable internet access for kies. It is recommended to disable firewall during the update process.Then you will be guided through the following steps to download and install the latest firmware.

    Upgraded to latest in Bangalore, India. Works perfectly. The upgrade did not delete any apps/sms/emails/contacts. It just cleared my home screens and rearranged my apps (minor issue). Overall, the upgrade went much better than expected. Thanks Samsung !!

    If you bought the phone from some other country, the update will be available only when samsung releases the firmware for that particular country. Call the support center and register a complaint.

    How you come you try clicking on the “Download Center” link it gives a Malware warning? Suspicious..

    As it links to an exe file, bit.ly is warning you. You are downloading kies from samsung’s server itself.

    i have a samsung galaxy sl i9003 and i have upgraded to gingerbread through kies. but the problem is that gapps keeps giving errors and closes, so does the dialertab and the contacts…its a very unstable version. what can i do to revert back to froyo
